Goal Statement: Achieve control of the HIV epidemic in focus countries. By September 30, 2021, new infections are fewer than deaths from all causes in HIV-positive patients in up to 131 and potentially additional countries with a high burden of HIV through leadership by the State Department (State) and implementation by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID); the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and its Agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH); the Department of Defense (DoD); the Department of Labor; Department of the Treasury; and the Peace Corps.
